Facing the storm together. The Story Behind the Photo.
Story and photo by Birgit-Cathrin Duval
It was a cold and stormy November afternoon at Seal River Heritage Lodge. Some of my fellow guests decided to stay indoors, but not me. I love challenging weather, so I bundled up and headed outside with our guides Terry and Andy. There was a polar bear hanging around near the lodge, though he seemed quite restless, moving around a lot, perhaps in search of shelter from the storm.
Suddenly, a fox appeared and started following the polar bear. I was lucky to capture the moment when the polar bear and the fox stood next to each other in harmony as though they were best friends, facing the freezing wind of the Arctic together.
Thank you for sharing this truly unique photo and story Birgit!
