One of the original members of the National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World when that program was in operation, Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge is our most remote property, and we strive to make it an unforgettable wilderness destination for guests.

Located 250 km south of Churchill, Manitoba and 40 km east of the historic York Factory on the Hudson Bay coast, Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge is situated in one of the most pristine wilderness areas in the world, at the center of three converging ecosystems including the Hudson Bay coast (marine), boreal forest (taiga), and the tundra.

Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge is the only place we know of in the in the world where polar bears, black bears, wolves, moose, Arctic fox, wolverine, snowy owls, raptors, shore birds and a host of other wildlife from each ecosystem can be found together.

An amazing photography experience,” said filmmaker and photographer Tomas Koek. “You won’t find a better northern outdoor experience than with Churchill Wild. As a Canon USA endorsed photographer, I am very particular about the images I photograph for my portfolio, I only want the best. Churchill Wild gives you the best and coupled with the amazing hospitality and premier venue you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend this site for film crews and guests alike if you are interested in photographing ‘bucket list’ animals that would be very difficult to see anywhere else.

“If you are interested in booking – please note the best times of the season to find the animal you are interested in seeing, I recommend reaching out to the Churchill Wild staff as they are very helpful, knowledgeable, and honest.”

Connect with Nature and welcoming staff

We have been to many amazing places, but this trip surpasses them all. The close connection with Nature brought a sense of tranquility and serenity not easily experienced. Thank you to the owners and exceptional staff of Churchill Wild.

I love that the bears were in the wild and I was in the cage

How great was this trip 🙂 Bears, bears and more bears, and whales, whales and more whales. What a unique experience and it was supported by amazing staff and guides. The trip was more than I could ask for and I have the photos to prove it.

Amazing experience, beautiful location

What an amazing experience, from start to finish. The lodge was beautiful, lovely accommodations. And having an opportunity to walk with polar bears, and observe a pack of wolves, truly an awesome opportunity. The staff and guides were top notch, great food too. I’d highly recommend to anyone considering this location. One of my favorite vacations ever.

Great adventure. If you love nature this is a must see. Staff very knowledgeable and friendly. Lodge and food amazing. Was able to see Black Bear, Polar Bear, Wolves and the Northern lights. Already planning my next visit.

Superb wilderness experience

Superb all around! The lodge is rustic and quaint but luxury starts with the cuisine, dedication to customer satisfaction and of course the animal experiences. The staff and guides are top notch with the guiding experiences similar to National Geographic in knowledge and explanations. The dining experiences are varied and luscious. The design of the excursions allows for a true wilderness experience viewing grey wolves, black bears, polar bears and caribou. You might be lucky to see the Northern Lights too. The people, the place, the totally immersive experiences = best in class trip! GO!!

Fantastic Experience

A wonderful ‘journey of discovery and awe’ in an isolated location. I thought the whole experience would be fantastic, and it was better than expected.
The encounters with the animals during our daily expeditions, and at the Lodge, will be imbedded in my memory forever. To see the ‘Northern Lights’ as well, was an added bonus. All the staff, food, accommodation and facilities at the Lodge are first rate.
