I already told you the story of our first ever breakfast with a grizzly bear here at Seal River Lodge, but just because the day started off amazing doesn’t mean the action has to stop.
The crew continued to work hard on the new bedroom construction through a mix of sunshine, pouring rain and horizon-wide rainbows, and not to be outdone by this morning’s new arrival, Ursus maritimus showed up to provide us with dinner theatre!
Vinicio, one of our carpenter/guests, spotted a big white male polar bear coming down from the north side of the Lodge. He walked past the compound and out on to the point to the east side of the picture windows in the dining room. As I write this we’re watching him swim in the bone-chilling waters of Hudson Bay.
The beluga whales have also arrived in great numbers, gracefully rolling through our binoculars in the calm evening waters of the Bay, probably feeding on capelin, with thousands of shore birds out in the shallows.
A grizzly and a polar bear on the same day at Seal River Lodge… yet another memory we’ll NEVER forget. Ahhh… dreams of what the season may bring.
Good night all.
