Polar bear sunrise at 8 a.m. It’s November, guests are in Seal River Heritage Lodge having breakfast all nice and toasty. I’m all alone in the yard protected by an 8-foot fence. Bob the polar bear has just awoken from sleeping on a warm bed of dry kelp. It’s a cool minus 17°C outside.
Magical is the only word to describe the experience as he walks calmly passed me, as the golden sunrise lights up the freezing Hudson Bay. To have an almost fully grown polar bear all to myself is something I’ll never forget!
