Award-winning National Geographic photojournalist Jad Davenport will teach you how to capture your once-in-a-lifetime arctic adventures, whether shooting with your iPhone or the latest Nikon DSLRs.

Jad began his 30-year career in photojournalism as a documentary photographer, developing his talent for visual storytelling while covering more than a dozen wars. He’s worked in over 160 countries in some of the wildest places on earth. As a full-time travel photographer and writer on  open assignment with National Geographic Creative, Jad’s knack for capturing the essence of an experience has defined his career.

Jad’s work has garnered no less than four Lowell Thomas Awards – the most respected awards in the field. His stories have appeared in many of the world’s elite publications including Newsweek, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and Men’s Journal.

During your Churchill Wild excursions, Jad will offer real-time tips and advice to fit the ever-changing wildlife and weather conditions, and work with you one-on-one to help you focus on your own photographic interests. Jad’s teaching style is relaxed and focusses less on the technical aspects and more on the visual elements that create a powerful image to tell a story.

Jad focuses on things like finding color and catching moments, and how to achieve new perspectives through simple and surprising field techniques. He’ll help you understand and appreciate the beauty of many different light situations so that you will always be able to take photos.

“Chas” is a Canon Explorer of Light, a prestigious group comprised of the most influential photographers and cinematographers in the world, each a master of their creative specialty.

Recognized as one of the top nature and wildlife photographers in the world, Chas has received numerous awards for superior photographic competence demonstrated through photographic competition, advanced education, and service to the profession.

Chas’s images are recognized internationally for their lighting, composition, and attention to detail and have appeared in many publications worldwide including National Geographic, Outdoor Photographer, Popular Photography, National Parks, Discover Diving, Smithsonian, Professional Photographer, Birder’s World, Birding, Nature Photographer, EOS, Digital PhotoPro, and many more.

As an accomplished natural history and keynote speaker, Chas has presented at many prestigious events including Explorer’s Club NYC, Audubon, Sierra Club, Nature Conservancy, Fuji Professional, Mid-Atlantic Photo Expo, NANPA, ASMP, CNPA, GNPA, and PPA.

Robert’s love affair with photography began at a very early age. He has traveled the world, honing his skills in Iceland, Bolivia and all over North America, but considers Churchill and the Hudson Bay area to be among his favorite destinations for photography. Robert’s photos have been published in calendars, books, travel guides and magazines and have won numerous awards.

Robert travels the globe in the hopes of finding and capturing the indescribable moments that nature gives us, so that he can share them through his art. To him, there is nothing better than standing in front of an approaching storm or beneath a blanket of northern lights.

Robert’s relaxed and friendly teaching style will put you at ease and give you the confidence to go after those once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunities.

Andy Skillen has been photographing the natural world since he first got his hands on a camera at the tender age of seven. His travels have taken him to some of the world’s most spectacular wildlife regions and allowed him to witness sights and behaviours most of us could only ever dream of.

A devoted philanthropist, Andy uses his gift to ensure future generations have a chance to experience our planet in the same way that he has by supporting global conservation projects through the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation.

A natural teacher and charismatic leader, Andy strikes the perfect balance of technique and artfulness and is sure to help you capture your Churchill Wild experience in unique way you can call your own.
