World's Greatest Arctic Safari

Yes, you can see polar bears in the summer!

Ready for a bucket-list experience this summer? Take a trip to the Canadian sub-arctic and be one of the few people in the world who have walked with a polar bear! Unlike the typical Churchill polar bear season, our remote ecolodges are situated right on the polar bear highway, offering unrivaled sightings from July to November.

Not only will you have a chance to see polar bears in the summer sun, but also sing with beluga whales from our zodiac boat trips! Did you know, we have the highest concentration of beluga whales in the world? They are highly intelligent and interactive animals, and love to pop their heads out of the water to see who we are!

You could even get lucky and witness polar bears hunting beluga whales, which has been occurring for the last ten to fifteen years. Ever watched the ‘Predators’ series? The 2023 polar bear episode was filmed right here with us! Your Arctic adventure awaits—beyond seasons, beyond expectations.

Seal River Heritage Lodge

Perched on the rugged coast of Hudson Bay lies Seal River Heritage Lodge, one of the early members in the National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World collection.

This lodge is in a prime location for observing polar bears as they wander the coast during summer and fall waiting for the Bay to freeze. Its location near the Seal River Estuary also makes it ideal for viewing beluga whales in July and August.

Our fenced-in compound, viewing platforms and tower lend themselves to unique photography opportunities for wildlife that approach to check out the sights, sounds and smells of the Lodge.

After a day of trekking the tundra, relax in our cozy lounge, watching for wildlife through expansive picture windows, sharing photos or talking with new friends.

Tundra-inspired Cuisine

Our founding chefs, Helen Webber and Marie Woolsey of the award-winning Blueberries and Polar Bears cookbook series, have spent more than 50 years developing and perfecting a unique catalogue of recipes.

Today, our culinary team is made up of chefs with a passion for adventure and creativity, both of which are reflected in the meals they craft for guests using these wildly popular recipes.

Your dining experience will include organic, locally sourced meats and fish along with fruits and vegetables from our Prairie Wild orchard and gardens. Menus are built around these building blocks which have been the backbone of our dining experience since we opened our first lodge more than 30 years ago.
