Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge is enjoying some incredible wildlife sightings this year! We do see polar bears, black bears and wolves at Nanuk on a regular basis, and we do occasionally see them together, but lately it’s like they’ve been passing each other in the office hallway. Or, in this case, on the secret paths that run to and from the lodge and runway.

Churchill Wild wilderness guide Terry Elliot sent us these shots today from the Hudson Bay Odyssey at Nanuk. First, we caught wolves and polar bears together in photos and video, then we did the same with a black bear and polar bear, and now we’ve got a wolf and a black bear together in the same photo!

“It was our first day back at Nanuk after the Arctic Safari at Seal River,” said Terry. “And we had a spectacle right away on the runway. Nine wolves, a polar bear and a black bear, all vying for the attention of the guests. The weather has turned cold and the snow flurries have begun, but the fall colours are peaking and it’s beautiful.”

What’s next for Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge? A polar bear, black bear and wolf in the same photo? Surely that could never happen. But you just never know, that first group of photos seemed highly unlikely at one point too! And if we get the impossible triple, what’s next?

A wolf, a polar bear, a black bear and a moose in the same photograph? How rare would that be?

“The first moose of the season arrived at Nanuk yesterday,” said Terry.

Here we go!
