Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge has been recognized by Tripadvisor.com as a 2020 Travellers’ Choice award-winner for the third year in a row!

Based on a full year of Tripadvisor reviews, prior to any changes caused by the pandemic, award winners are known for consistently receiving great traveller feedback, placing them in the top 10% of hospitality businesses around the globe. Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge earned 30 5-Star reviews in 2019 and has now received 125 5-Star reviews in total on TripAdvisor.com.

“Our team has worked very hard to develop Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge into a world-class wildlife tourism destination with polar bears as the star attraction,” said Churchill Wild co-owner and founder Mike Reimer. “We’re humbled and honoured to receive this award from Tripadvisor, and we’re  proud of what we’ve accomplished.”

“We owe a huge thanks not only to all the guests who posted glowing reviews, but also to those who have become evangelists for the Churchill Wild brand around the world. We couldn’t have done this without them.”

“Winners of the 2020 Travelers’ Choice Awards should be proud of this distinguished recognition,” said Kanika Soni, Chief Commercial Officer at Tripadvisor. “Although it’s been a challenging year for travel and hospitality, we want to celebrate our partners’ achievements. Award winners are beloved for their exceptional service and quality. Not only are these winners well deserving, they are also a great source of inspiration for travelers as the world begins to venture out again.”

Remotely located deep in the heart of polar bear country 250 km southeast of Churchill, Manitoba on Canada’s Hudson Bay coast, Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge is 40 km east of the historic York Factory, where the fur trade was born in Canada over 300 years ago. Nanuk is one of the wildest and most soulful places on earth, and one of the few places in the world where you can safely walk with polar bears and photograph them at ground level in their natural habitat, while also enjoying the comfortable rustic-luxury of an exclusive ecolodge.

Purchased in 2009 by Churchill Wild, Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge was extensively upgraded and joined Churchill Wild’s Seal River Heritage Lodge as a member of the National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World collection in 2016.

One of only three permanent physical ecolodges on the Hudson Bay coast, the other two being Churchill Wild’s Dymond Lake Ecolodge and Seal River Heritage Lodge, Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge is at the center of three different converging ecosystems — tundra, marine and boreal forest — and is home to black bears, wolves, moose, myriad birds and a host of other Arctic wildlife. Churchill Wild pioneered polar bear walking safaris in 1993, and all three ecolodges are among the world’s premier polar bear viewing destinations.
