The album below includes photos taken at Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge. You can click on any of the photos and they will open a new window to the photographer or author page. We love to share photos from our polar bear lodges, especially from guests. If you’ve taken some great photos at Nanuk and have posted them to Instagram, using the tag #nanukpolarbearlodge could help you gain more exposure through this album.
We’ll swap out the photo at the top of this post on a regular basis and link it to a different guest, photographer, photo leader, guide or staffer, in an effort to create additional exposure for all our valued guests, stakeholders and evangelists. Of course, we’re also hoping you’ll follow @churchillwildsafaris on Instagram too!
A huge thanks to all of our guests, professional photographers, photo leaders and staff for sharing your incredible photos with us! Enjoy!
We're celebrating Thanksgiving this weekend, and though times are strange, we have a lot to be thankful for -- including all of YOU. And a special thanks to @rmsteckphotography for the beautiful photo. 😍
The wolves at Kaska Coast are truly wild wolves. The area is completely uninhabited apart from Churchill Wild’s Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge. That‘s why this is probably the best spot to photograph wolves in their natural environment.
On The Run, 🐺
Watching and trying to understand the interactions between the wolves of a pack, will never be boring. One moment, they‘re playing, the next they are chasing each other and just seconds later they are challenging their alphas.
Check out my bio to see how you can help re-wild our world 🌎💚🌳

Taken at Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge during our Den Emergence Quest, this beautiful photo by Christoph Jansen of @arcticwild is one of the most magical we've ever seen. It's number 16 in our countdown to World Tourism Day!
It's a strange year for us and for all our fellow tourism operators. Each spring, we anticipate the re-opening of our lodges, we look forward to meeting guests from around the world, and when it's all over, cherish the memories that come out of a season. This year, all that has changed due to the pandemic. Our lodges are closed and we feel a little lost.
The importance of tourism to communities, economies and conservation efforts seems more apparent than ever right now. With World Tourism Day taking place on September 27, we decided to put something special together for you.
We've put together a collection of 20 guest photos that depict the magic of travel and tourism as experienced on our safaris. From now until World Tourism Day, we'll share one photo each day. Enjoy!

🏆 Our beloved Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge has won a Traveller's Choice award! Home to polar bears, wolves, moose, black bears and northern lights, Nanuk is one of the National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World -- and it's pure magic. Check out our highlights for more about this ecolodge.
Wolves are fascinating animals. They live in packs, but they are not constantly sticking together. Sometimes the individual animals are miles apart. If you are lucky, you can hear them performing their song, one of their ways of communicating over long distances.
Wolves are social animals. It’s very exciting to watch the interaction between the alpha couple and the other members of the pack. This even makes you forget the extremely cold Manitoba winter temperatures...
Each year we eagerly await our first polar bear sighting and being able to share that moment with all of you. This year, that milestone may not come as expected. Due to travel restrictions surrounding COVID-19, we don’t anticipate being able to host guests this summer.
We plan to open our lodges in October for our fall season and look forward to a regular summer season next year. We’re also taking bookings for 2022 for those of you who like to plan farther in advance!
We will relive highlights of our past summer seasons here until we can start sharing fresh content later this year!

Listen for the partner howling back towards the end of the clip. It was such an incredible experience to be ground level with these amazing animals and listening to them communicate with each other. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience.

This is definitely true for Hudson Bay‘s Kaska Coast. Returning to Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge during the blue hour after a wonderful day tracking wildlife, is just magical. We would have been departing for this year‘s Den Emergence Quest, soon. However, COVID-19 has all our travel plans cancelled indefinitely 😢
Our friend, and fabulous photographer, @annfulcherphotography shared this photo the other day and reminded us how much we love it! She captured this polar bear at sunset at Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge back in 2016. Perfection. 😍 .

Sunsets in the Arctic are a very special experience. One of our most beautiful sunsets ever was out on the sea ice of Hudson Bay. While we were staying in Manitoba, we crossed the border to Nunavut on the sea ice.
Hey there, sleeping beauty! Our friend @jennsmithnelson, a talented travel writer and author, snapped this pic at Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge a couple of weeks ago.
"We could see this lovely female dozing her days away from Nanuk Lodge. The whole time we were there, she hardly moved. However, the guides suspected she’s pregnant. Did you know that female polar bears can delay their pregnancies? It’s called embryonic diapause, where the store fertilized embryos in their body until their external environment (and personal health) are suitable for newborns."

We had to do a double and then a triple take when we first saw this photo. Even then we asked the photographer for clarification because it's unlike any image we've seen before! She explained that the rock was frozen into a block of ice along a pressure ridge in Hudson Bay and suspended above the surrounding snow. Incredible.
This photo by @kathy.richardson is #12 in our countdown to World Tourism Day. Kathy snapped this pic at Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge during her trip with @visionarywild back in November of 2017.
